How Time Flies.

Here we are with over another 2 weeks gone and not much to show for it.  Bryan - being the kind generous  person he is donated all his germs to me and this resulted in me having influenza, along with a rather nasty ear infection, culminating in a trip to A & E last Sunday to get some medication. Thank god for antibiotics.  1 week on I am beginning to feel a little more like building again.

We also had 2 days of rain, (the first since November,) which has held us up a little. The soil here is a very sticky clay which when wet is terrible to walk on or do anything with. So it was a case of sitting it out and waiting for Mr sunshine to come out to play. When I say sitting it out I meant 2 days spent in the office cataloguing photo's for our website - No rest here.

The garden appreciated the rain and we have now got potatoes peeking out of the soil and the garlic, onions and radish are growing well. We even have some flowers on the strawberries. The tomato plants are hardening off on a sunny windowsill ready for planting out when we have a visit from two of our gorgeous little people in April. That should keep them busy for a morning.
The landscaping around the house is progressing and we have sown some lawn seed and also put in a few flower beds, so hopefully by the time we start to have visitors it will look more like a garden and less like a building site.

There is still lots to do. The sun is just peeping its head up and I have just heard the concrete mixer start up - so onwards and upwards..........

On Schedule.....

The metalwork has been tied together and hidden in the trenches. The concrete was poured late last Friday afternoon - our calculations erred on the light side, so it was a mad dash, for me, to the local builders yard for cement while Bryan put the mixer on our (borrowed) little tractor, and voila our Friday evening was spent shovelling sand and gravel into it. - Who needs a gym membership?

This week we have been building the foundation walls and they were finished ahead of schedule, despite Bryan feeling under the weather. The weatherman has given a good forecast for the weekend so after a quick shopping trip to Beziers for next weeks materials the motorbike, cameras and of course Charlie Dog will be loaded into the camper and a couple of lazy days will be enjoyed. Maybe a meal or two in the promised sunshine and of course a nice bottle of the red stuff.
