Sad Times...........

This week had been a sad and stressful one. Our beloved Springer Spaniel, Charlie, has had a stroke. He is still very poorly and we are keeping our fingers, (and everything else), crossed that he will get better.  There seems to be a little improvement every day so hopefully he will be back to wandering round the garden in a few weeks.

The windows and doors are ordered for the house and the walls are rising day by day.  We have had visitors again this week so we have not been working all day every day. Still, good progress has been made and we are now beginning to think about ordering the roof timbers.

The weather is still changeable - not like what we have been used to but it is good for building. If it is sunny and hot the cement dries too quickly for us to carry on in an afternoon so we need to make hay while the sun doesn't shine.

We have a glut of radish from the veg garden and the tomatoes are planted and growing nicely - despite Charlie digging them up because he liked the taste of the organic fertiliser I put on them.  If the sun comes out to play we will be eating fresh strawberries. Mmmmmmm I can't wait.  The potatoes should be flowering any day now and the beetroot and spring onions are growing happily.  I have also planted butternut squash seeds so that they will be ready to go in when the potatoes have been harvested.
